Calligraphy Study Desk

Calligraphy Study

Calligraphy Study is an electric height-adjustable desk designed for children who learn Chinese calligraphy. Calligraphy is usually written while standing, so the desk height can be changed between 56 and 110 centimetres with a control panel that shows the current height. The desktop can be tilted from 0 to 60 degrees for drawing and reading. The frame is made of solid wood with traditional mortise and tenon joinery, and rattan wickerwork covers the screen. Wooden holders keep brushes in place with magnets. A small mobile cabinet stores paper rolls and scrolls.

Spidique Chair

Spidique

Spidique is a chair produced with 3D printing technology in PLA. The form of Spidique was generated with Ameba software, which applies the BESO algorithm for topological optimization. The calculated shape was then refined by the design team to improve ergonomics and visual appeal. Slender lines are merged into the structure to balance appearance and mechanics. Prototypes were printed and tested for comfort and durability. The intent behind Spidique is to reach the required function with a minimal amount of plastic and reduced material waste.

Hanoi Detachable Sofa

Hanoi

Hanoi is a detachable sofa designed for flat packaging. The sofa is assembled in about four minutes without tools, glue or metal parts. Four beech wood pillars are rotated into threaded holes in the wooden base. Upholstered backrests and armrests are then attached to the pillars and fixed with threaded caps at the top of each pillar. Cushions are added last. The packed volume is two fifths of the assembled sofa, which reduces packaging, storage and transport costs. The structure recalls the Tower of Hanoi puzzle.

Vague Stool

Vague

Vague is a backless chair formed by continuous structural curves. Each viewing angle reveals a different harmonious composition. Vague is made of steel tubes with a diameter of 5/16 inch, shaped by bending and joined by welding. The surface receives an electrostatic paint or a copper coating finish. The dimensions are 400 mm in width, 390 mm in depth and 420 mm in height. The curves were inspired by the ripples of a water droplet falling into a river and by the structure of leaves. Vague can be used as a seat or as a decorative object.

Vortex Fireplace

Vortex

Vortex offers two combustion options: traditional wood or an automatic bioethanol burner. The bioethanol version provides a real flame without smoke, ash or odours. Vortex is made of carbon steel, shaped by laser cutting and welding, and finished with heat resistant powder coating. The heat output ranges from 5.9 to 10.6 kilowatts.
