Interweave
Interweave is a display cabinet designed for living rooms and lobbies. The cabinet is composed of intersecting wooden strips set at different angles, forming a grid that acts as a semi-transparent barrier. Two woods are used, walnut and beech hardwood, so the crossing lines differ in color and add a sense of depth. Traditional mortise and tenon joints connect every strip, leaving a smooth surface without pegs or screws. Items placed inside can be glimpsed through the grid, creating a discreet display method. The cabinet measures 1450 by 700 by 500 millimeters.
Interweave Cabinet by Yu-Ching Chen has been highlighted as an innovative illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Interweave Cabinet won the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2024. The A' Furniture Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design accolade that celebrates exceptional design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
