Existence
Existence is a chair designed for thinking. The chair is treated as a piece of architecture that defines an edge and leaves space for the mind to fill. Two prototypes have been made of stainless steel. Sitting on Existence requires attention and muscle effort, so the chair limits physical comfort in order to set the mind free. Each chair measures 1000 mm in width, 800 mm in depth and 600 mm in height. The prototypes were shaped by hand, and different techniques were adjusted to reach exact accuracy.
Existence Chair by JINCHENG ZHANGLIU has been recognized as an outstanding illustration of industrial design by the A' Design Award. Existence Chair received the Bronze A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2022. The A' Furniture Design Award is a highly prestigious international design award which recognizes outstanding design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
