Dress Your Chair
Dress Your Chair is a series of removable upholstery made for a common and easy to assemble chair. The series includes one set of foam undergarments and three coverings inspired by the seasons: a spring dress, an autumn jumpsuit and a winter Teddy coat. The foam undergarments use various densities and provide support and comfort during seating. The jumpsuit and the Teddy coat close with invisible zippers around the seat, while the dress slides on and off. Each piece is easy to change, wash and ship, so an existing chair can be renewed instead of replaced.
Dress Your Chair Removable Upholstery by Yumeng Gai was featured as an innovative representation of industrial design by the A' Design Awards. Dress Your Chair Removable Upholstery earned the Iron A' Design Award in Furniture Design in 2021. The A' Furniture Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design competition that celebrates outstanding design of chairs, tables, sofas, beds, cabinets, shelves, desks, wardrobes and more.
